  Rabat 18 feb (EFE) .- A new institution created by King Mohamed VI will now perform the functions of the Ombudsman in Morocco, reported the royal Alawite, which also announced the creation of an interministerial body to ensure the human rights in government.
  According to a real Cabinet, quoted by the MAP, the monarch appointed lawyer Abdelaziz Alawi Benzakur as president of the new independent institution of the Ombudsman, which replaces the old "Diuán to Madalim" (former "ombudsman" in Morocco).

The new institution is distinguished especially as to its organization and its work by the establishment of regional delegates that will ensure the protection of the rights of users of public services.

The statement added that the institution will have the power to conduct investigations and undertake mediation and conciliation and persecution propose disciplinary or appeal to the prosecutor, in accordance with the laws.

On the other hand, the Interministerial Delegation for Human Rights, to be led by former secretary general of the Human Rights Advisory Council, the Haiba Mahjoub-will mission monitoring and coordination of government departments involved in public policy advocacy and promotion of human rights.

Earlier this month, King Mohammed VI replaced the former Human Rights Advisory Board with a new National Human Rights Council, and appointed the president of the militant Driss Yazami general counsel and secretary Mohamed Sebbar.

A week later, the king announced a major reform of the Constitution which includes, among other changes, the upgrading of the prime minister as "president of an effective executive power" and expand the powers of Parliament.

The new reforms announced by King Alawi has occurred two days before the demonstrations called by the youth movement of February 20 claiming a constituent assembly to give Morocco a new constitution
