The Moral Influence Theory and its partners say that God does not destroy, it has spread not only through certain academic areas of our church ( Loma Linda University ) but also between self-supporting workers.
Sanctuary At the conference held at Andrews University in 1997, Dr. Woodrow Whidden , Professor of Religion Andrews University, made a thrilling attack against the manifest error that God does not destroy. Quoting directly from their work:
Other provocative questions are raised in their heads: Was the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah just the chance circumstance of a conspiracy unfortunate weather conditions? 1 Ellen White says "the Lord rained fire and brimstone from heaven" 2 . Was the trial of God on Korah, Dathan and Abiram only a yawn of a long tragic "failure" seismic sleeping in the desert of Sinai? 3 Ellen White calls this view "the signal manifestation of God's power" 4 . Were the deaths of Ananias and Sapphira just because of a heart problem? 5 Ellen White refers to his death as "the signal manifestation of God's wrath" 6 and continues that "the same God who Punia, today condemned falsely" 7. Will the "lake of fire" merely a passive act by God? In relation to the "lake of fire", Ellen White says "God is for the wicked a consuming fire" 8 .
Dr. Whidden also documented evidence that the divine wrath manifested itself in the cross What happens on the cross? Was or was not a manifestation of God's holy wrath against sin? If clear and straightforward words of Ellen White mean something, the next challenge needs to be honestly faced: any well-intentioned person believes that the theory of "moral influence" eliminates the substitutionary atonement theory as a manifestation of the "wrath" of God against sin, you need to be prepared to delete the chapter "Calvary" of the book "The Desire of Ages." I think my challenge is a bit shocking, but some words are very clear as to be ignored! Please clearly perceived the climate following quotes from this chapter in the more spiritual work of Ellen White:
"On Christ as our substitute and surety was laid iniquity of us all. Was told by offender, so that might redeem us from the condemnation of the law. The guilt of every descendant of Adam overwhelmed his heart. The wrath of God against sin, the terrible manifestation of His displeasure because of iniquity, filled with consternation the soul of His Son. All his life, had been proclaiming Christ to a fallen world the glad tidings of mercy and forgiving love of the Father. Its theme was the salvation of even the chief of sinners. But right now, feeling the terrible burden of guilt that leads can not see the Father's reconciling face ... He felt the anguish which the sinner will feel when mercy no more intercede for the guilty race. The sense of sin, which attracted the Father's wrath upon him as a substitute for man, did he so bitter the cup she drank the Son of God and broke his heart " 9. "He, the atoning of sin, bears the wrath of divine justice and for your sake He became sin" 10 .
again in his colorful language, Dr. Whidden said: Out of these powerful and clear statements, Ellen White makes it abundantly evident that there is a lovely emphasis on the passive righteousness of God : "Justice demands that sin is not merely forgiven, but must execute the death penalty. God in the gift of His only begotten Son, fulfilled these two requirements. To die in the place of man, Christ gave exhausted punishment and forgiveness " 11 " As Christ bears the sins of every transgressor and a sinner who does not believe in Christ as their personal Savior ... carry the penalty of his transgression " 12 .
Is there any appreciable difference between putting a plug into a support system and life support system connected to an electric chair? Again, I think the answer is self-evident! Because Ellen White says, our God is love, but His love is expressed in active justice, not just passive. Certainly He is our "God" close and "friend" 13 , but he is worried that a benign neighbor poignantly beckons through the window begging that we remove the "stupidity" of our entertainment in the land of sin. He also is the Holy God who has acted and will act again with righteous anger against those who reject His gracious offer of redemption. Again, there are many references in relation to the active implementation of justice to say that justice is just a passive "let's move on."
Dr. Whidden's statement can not be disputed, but let us examine the Scriptures which even more strongly dispel this dangerous and unbiblical error. How can we rationalize the prophecy God to the antediluvian world?
"And the Lord said I will destroy from the face of the earth to men I created both man and beast, and creeping things and birds of the air-for I regret having made ... And behold, I bring a flood of waters upon the earth, to destroy all flesh wherein is the breath of life under heaven, all there is on earth will die " 14.
Lord identifies Himself as the Creator, and the double use of the I, even I, he emphasizes that it is He, the Creator, which destroys life. The unity of this verse is impelling. The God who created God is destroyed. No other power caused the destruction.
Only those who believe that God does not destroy, based on the best, a dubious use of the Scriptures, can say that God does not destroy the wicked. Some theorists of moral influence are willing to admit that God has destroyed life in the land of disobedient humans, but argue that Satan is responsible for the eternal death of the wicked. While the fall of Satan's deceptions and temptations have been responsible for thousands of human beings rebel against God, there can be no doubt that the wicked are destroyed forever by God.
"They went on the broad earth and surrounded the camp of the saints and the beloved city and of fire came down from heaven and devoured them " 15.
O our God is true to state that the fire of the second death comes to him from heaven, and then he is a liar. The Scriptures clearly state that it is impossible for God to lie. Revelation 20:9 is a clear "Thus says the Lord." Dare we invest defy the Word of God? Why he says this is his strange act, if it were an act of great love for destroying those who do not repent?
final eradication of sin and sinners forever, the universe, and the destruction of Satan, leave this clear. How many times have to use our God, the personal pronoun "I" to convince us that he really destroyed?
"Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day you were created till wickedness was found in thee. Because of the multitude of your dealings were filled with violence, and you sinned. For So I threw the mountain of God, I threw myself between the stones of fire , O covering cherub. Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of your splendor. I threw you ground for the kings seen.
destroyed forever. With the multitude of your iniquities and your dishonest dealings dirty by your sanctuary. because I brought fire from your midst, you ate, I turned you to ashes upon the earth in the sight of all them that behold thee. All who knew you among the people, you will be amazed. Horror will be, and never shalt exist " 16.
" I will destroy you! "." I threw you to the ground! " . 'I will place you in front of kings! "." I will draw fire from your midst, and will eat you! "." I will make ashes! ". Finally, God tells Satan," never shalt exist ".
If the Word of God means something, then it is more than time that we stop being driven by "the evil fallacies of the rabbis" 17.
the messenger's voice is so impelling as Scripture. A follow comes two clear statements. The first has to do with the destruction of Korah and his companions. When many of the children of Israel rebelled, they attributed the view of God as if the trial of Satan. Through this they committed the unpardonable sin. What a tremendous warning for those who are flirting with the same concept today.
"But Korah and his colleagues rejected the light to be so blind that the most marked manifestations of power no longer sufficient to convince the attributed all human or satanic instruments. So did that, the day after the destruction of Korah and his associates, went to Moses and Aaron and said, "You have killed the people of the Lord" . Although the destruction of the men who seduced, had received more convincing indications of God's displeasure at the way they had dared to attribute His judgments to Satan, declaring that this power of Moses and Aaron had made good and holy men die.
This event sealed his doom. Had committed the sin against the Holy Spirit , definitely sin hardens the heart of man against the influence of divine grace. 'Anyone who speaks against the Son of Man will be forgiven: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven ' (Matt. 12:32), said our Saviour when the works of grace that had made under the power of God were attributed by the Jews to Beelzebub. Through the Holy Spirit is how God communicates with man, and those who deliberately reject this instrument, considering satanic, have cut the channel of communication between the soul and Heaven.
For the demonstration His Spirit, God works to reprove and convict the sinner, and if finally rejected the Spirit's work nothing is left for God to do for the soul. We used the last resource of divine mercy. The transgressor has cut himself off from God, and sin has no cure. There is no reserved power by which God can work to convince and convert the sinner 18.
The second statement makes distinction between God's judgments and judgments of Satan.
"One angel killed the firstborn of the Egyptians and filled the country in mourning. When David offended God to take census of the people, an angel caused the terrible carnage with which his sin was punished. The same destructive power exercised by holy angels when God commands it, the evil angels exercised when he permits. There are forces which currently lists only waiting the divine permission to sow desolation everywhere " 19.
Again, we say that the notion that God does not destroy, it is extremely dangerous. Lost souls to accept it. First, by implication are declaring that our wonderful God is a liar. These accusers of God will have a place in his kingdom.
Second, this concept has led to monstrous arguments by some proponents. Some proponents claim that it is Satan who destroys the wicked at the time of executive action. When asked what happens to Satan? They respond "Satan commits suicide." How these people truly need to urgently assess their conclusions in light of the quotation cited above 19.
Third, there is no way a person can die the second death through annihilation is not an act of God. Even if we doubt the clear Word of God, all life in the universe is maintained moment by moment, for him the end all he will be removed your "hand" supportive (of course the Scriptures, as we have seen, testified that he does much more than that). If, due to a false understanding of His loving mercy, justice and love, we insist that God has no part in the death of the wicked, then logically progress (as have many) to the doctrine that all will be saved, because God never destroys, either actively or passively. That such a logical consequence of this false teaching there really was emphasized to the authors by a proponent of error "God does not destroy," which stated: "God would be a monster greater than Adolf Hitler if he destroyed the ungodly. " Then he said: "Finally, even Satan will be saved!". A doctrine thus promotes a complete lack of preparedness to face the trial of God.
"God is love" 20. For the plan of salvation can be completed and thus the universe can be cleaned once more, and for the suffering of eternal beings of the universe is once again removed, God has to destroy, in an act of love unimaginable sin and sinners forever. "The mountains quake before Him, and the hills melt, the earth is moved at His presence, and the world, and all who dwell therein" 21.
certainly are solemn and eternal consequences, the dangers of speculation beyond the revealed Word of God.
