OMBUDSMAN, PERU: Ombudsman reiterates call on Congress to pass legislation



Lima, May. 07 (ANDINA). The Acting Ombudsman, Eduardo Vega, reiterated his call for Congress to pass the autograph of the Act the right to consultation, and it takes nine months waiting to be treated for parliamentary representation.

However, to date, this procedure has not been produced, generating, according to the institution, a situation that contributes to building a trusting relationship between indigenous peoples and the state.

For its part, the Deputy Ombudsman for the Environment, Public Services and Indigenous Peoples, Ivan Lanegra said that that law aims to create conditions for implementation of the right to consultation, providing a clear and orderly for the various sectors involved. While the Chief of the Indigenous Peoples Program, Alicia Abanto, said the Andean and Amazonian indigenous organizations constantly seek the approval of the text considered vital to the defense of their rights.
