It was a common sin in Israel (Deut. 32:16; 2 R . 17:12, Psalm 106:38) and a more than passing concern in the early Christian church (1 Cor 12:2). The Canaanite paganism was popular because of their low ethical standards in contrast to the high of the Hebrew religion, and religion was often demanding abandoned by the worship of Baal easier.
After the conquest of Canaan until the Babylonian captivity, idolatry was a pattern persistent and demoralizing experience of Israel. Why God forbids images or idols to represent?
Solomon said, "Behold, heaven and the heaven of heavens can not contain You, how much less this house which I have built?" (2 Chronicles 6:18). If the most beautiful thing he could do was negligible Solomon to worship God, what about the idols of metal, plaster, etc?

Without doubt, today's society is so, prefer to believe in "fairy tales" in vain superstitions that all they do is moving farther and farther from God. That is what Satan looks, that humanity away from God through idols, saints, images, knowing that God does not like to share worship, He is mighty and jealous (Exodus 20:4).
The worship of images is a work of Satan
Satan was cast out of heaven just because he wanted to be like God, sitting on the throne of God, I wanted to be worshiped and praised. Seventh, it must be remembered that the only measure between God and man is Christ (1 Tim. 2 : 5), no one, not even the "Virgin Mary", which Bible says nothing about his rise and his work as an advocate, so it is simply a terrible heresy.
Eighth, Satan knows he has little time and so did, does and will do everything possible for you and I turn away from true worship, and get distracted by absurd and simple images.
